Guide to Paint Sizes and Weights
Hydrocryl sell a range of high quality acrylic paints and mediums for artists.
Our range is made in Australia from the most intense and vibrant pigments available.
It is, but really it is not. Confused? Hydrocryl colours are single pigmented. That means, they are made from ONE colour source only. Brand X may have 10 different shades of Blue. A close inspection of the label will reveal the pigments used. These all have a Colour Index number that is universally recognised as code for colour. E.g. PB 15:3 is Pigment Blue number 15:3, otherwise known as Phthalo Blue. (Phthalocyanine being the source for this particular pigment.) Amongst these 10 different shades of Blue in Brand X’s range, you will find that PB 15:3 may be the base colour for more than half of them with a touch of White, Yellow, Red etc. giving you subtle variation.
Hydrocryl offer you one powerful and bold Phthalo Blue, aka PB 15:3. Using this Blue as your base will only give you BLUE! Not little bits of Yellow and Red or White, just… True Blue!!
All colours are equal - just that some are more equal than others! Various factors such as pigments being difficult to source and/or process can affect the price of the colour (see also next question).
Artist's colours are grouped into categories, known as 'Series'. Series affect the pricing of the paint. Factors such as the quality and rarity of the pigment affect the Series placement. Generally, one can create a broad colour palette selecting from the Series 1 and Series 2 options. However, the decision to upgrade to a Series 4 or 5 pigment will yield far more powerful results.

Yes, Hydrocryl materials are 100% safe and Yes, you had good reason to be concerned. Many artists through history have become seriously unwell due to their cramped working conditions in which they imbibed and inhaled toxic materials that they worked with constantly. Things have come a long way since and Hydrocryl are at the head of that change!
THERE ARE 3 KEY CONCERNS:
If you are used to the richness of oils or the transparency of watercolours, with Hydrocryl you can achieve them both.
The combination of a bold selection of single pigments, a uniquely workable consistency along with total care to remain 100% non-toxic ensures that Hydrocryl remain in a class of their own.
